We headed off again in the morning recharged and ready to get stuck in the Oodnadatta again. We had 1 bald spare on the car and 1 even balder spare as a back up, but nothing was going to stop us now… Coober Pedy is like no other town, driving through it is like another planet, massive holes and mounds of dirt, equipment broken down and left everywhere but there are also fantastic stories of ordinary people trying to make a go of it.
In Coober Pedy 80% of the houses are built into the rock to keep the temperature down inside the houses, when you take a tour through them it is surprising how people can live ordinary lives underground. We also did a tour of the Old Timers Mine which is an early mine fro the 1920’s and the Underground Mine tour Museum both fantastic and great however it was good to see the light…
Whilst on our travels we have met so many families, couples, grey nomads etc… they have all been fantastic to meet with great stories to tell. Many of them living on the road for months or years and heading back to their families for Christmas….. We can really see how easy that can be, you get so addicted to the road and the excitement of the next adventure and what tomorrow will bring..
