Airlie Beach to Hideaway Bay(Dingo Beach)

We drove into Dingo beach which is between Airlie Beach and Bowen in far North QLD. Dingo beach consists of the Dingo Pub/store/bistro/servo /and anything else you can think of, it has one boat ramp that goes out to the most picturesque bay. There a few locals that live here and not much else, and I think that’s the way they want to keep it. There is no camping here so we moved on to Hideaway Bay which is just around the corner a few km away.
WOW!  what a find, everything we wanted after the madness of Airlie Beach was here, quiet sleepy village only one caravan park which is also the general store and a few houses overlooking the crystal blue bay.
We checked in for 2 nights at the caravan pk which backs onto the beach. We decided to check out the area a little more and followed a little dirt track at the end of the street to what looked like another bay, at the end of this 3 km track was just an amazing little restaurant which is on the beach literally with nothing else around.
We sat and watched the sunset, explored the beach and spent the afternoon just gazing at what was a paradise location. Nothing for miles in an area untouched by development, no masses of tourists, not even any other shops in this sleepy town, just one caravan park, a few locals and what we later found out only 2 restaurants on the beach. (Monte’s and the Gloucester Resort)
We quickly booked in a few extra nights at the caravan pk as we realised we were not going budge from here till next year! OK until January 1 at least!

The next day we decided to hire a dinghy and explore the waterways, can this place get any better we thought?? turtles in the water, tuna swimming beneath us, little uninhabited islands all around and lovely people with big smiles on their faces! We tried our luck at some fishing off the boat and were not disappointed, the kids caught their first fish and we took back 5 huge fish (well, big for us) fish for dinner for the next couple of nights!

We’re looking forward to exploring the area in more detail over the next few days, one of the locals here saw dugongs playing in the bay the other morning so were keen to spot them!
We are so surprised to find such a sleepy little fishing village like this which is still untouched by development and anything too modern, including the masses! How will we ever leave??
