Echuca to Broken Hill

Echuca is an old port town on the Murray River separating NSW and VIC, we went on a paddle steamer ride which went for a cruise down the Murray and a history lesson on the old port town and region of Echuca. Which to our surprise was the largest inland port in the southern hemisphere (many years ago) the old paddles steamers used to cart goods up and down the murray servicing 3 states. The town has great old pubs and buildings and feels like you have stepped back in time. On to Mildura, we have been there many times before so we used the time to rest up and enjoy some R&R. From MIldura we headed up the silver city hwy to broken hill where along the way we spotted lots of straying livestock, emus, wild goats but thankfully no kangaroos. We arrived in Broken Hill settled in, then headed off to the old Mining town of Silverton which has also been used as a film set for many australian movies. We explored the Mundi Mundi plains, had a look at “The Shack” and enjoyed the sunset over the desert.
